First Lady participates in annual children’s cancer awareness walk

first_imgThe Giving Hope Foundation on Saturday hosted its third annual children’s cancer awareness walk in observance of International Childhood Cancer.The cancer walk began at the National Park, Carifesta Avenue, Georgetown, and moved south into Camp Street, then west into Cowan Street, Kingston, and north into Main Street, after which it concluded at the sea walls bandstand.To show their support to the children battling with the life-threatening disease, First lady Sandra Granger took to the streets on Saturday morning where she was joined by Guyana’s representative of the Pan American Health Organisation/World Health Organisation (PAHO/WHO), Dr William Adu-Krow.Scores of children, mainly ones diagnosed with cancer, along with their parents and other stakeholders of the non-profit organisation showed great excitement as they marched the streets of Georgetown to bring about cancer awareness.Meanwhile, in concluding the walk, five children were presented with hampers in a simple handing over ceremony. The generous donations were made by the Giving Hope Foundation along with the Guyana Oil Corporation (GuyOil).last_img
