Marketing agent Joel Clifford, of David Deane Real Estate, said the home went under contract before it even went to market.“I had a buyer I’d been working with who I knew would love it,” he said. “They’re a local family from the area who will be living in the property.” Mr Clifford said despite the home going under contract, he still had a lot of interest in the property. When a home like that comes on the market in Petrie it gets swamped.” Mr Clifford said most homes were selling quickly in Petrie. “We’re seeing homes selling with multiple offers, selling above list price and we’re seeing great turnouts at open homes,” he said. “Buyers have gone from predominantly first homebuyers to investors, which its most likely due to the new university coming to the area, but we’re getting a mixed bag of buyers overall.“We’re seeing first time buyers, investors, retirees and run-of-the-mill families.” Mr Clifford attributed the spike in buyer activity in Petrie to low interest rates, more amenities cropping up in the area and the suburb’s location between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.“We’ve had a great kickstart to the year and I don’t see it slowing down in 2017,” he said.
